Squalane Technical Support

Expert insights on source, purity, and formulation application.

1. How do you verify that Onerchem Squalane is 100% plant-derived?
+
ETHICAL COMPLIANCE
Transparency is our priority. Our Squalane is derived via advanced fermentation of plant sugars or refining of olives. Each batch is C14 isotope-tested to ensure zero shark-derived content, making it fully compliant with ECOCERT, COSMOS, and Vegan certifications.
2. What are the stability advantages of Squalane over Squalene?
+
SHELF-LIFE STABILITY
Squalene is unsaturated and prone to oxidation (rancidity). Onerchem Squalane is the fully hydrogenated (saturated) version. It is chemically inert and highly resistant to oxidation, UV light, and high heat (stable up to 200°C), allowing for a shelf life of 24-36 months without quality degradation.
3. Can Squalane be used as a primary solvent for Ceramide NP?
+
R&D GUIDELINE
Absolutely. Squalane is an exceptional carrier for lipophilic actives. It significantly enhances the solubility of Ceramide NP in the oil phase. We recommend heating the Squalane phase to approx. 90°C to ensure complete dissolution of ceramides before emulsification.
4. Does it leave a greasy film on the skin after application?
+
SENSORY PROFILE
No. Squalane is often referred to as a "dry oil." Due to its high affinity for human skin cells, it absorbs almost instantly, leaving a silky, breathable protective barrier without the heavy, occlusive feel associated with mineral oils or heavy esters.
5. Does Onerchem Squalane meet USP/EP pharmaceutical standards?
+
REGULATORY STANDARDS
Yes. Our high-purity Squalane is manufactured under strict GMP conditions and meets the requirements of the USP (United States Pharmacopeia) and EP (European Pharmacopoeia), making it suitable for both high-end cosmetics and dermatological applications.
